Studio Policies

Students enrolled in piano lessons with LMK Studios receive high-quality, individualized instruction, as well as performance opportunities.

Here's how we keep our studio running smoothly.

Scheduling

Cancellations, Make-ups, Absences

Each enrolled student receives a weekly, dedicated, half-hour time slot with their teacher. Students are scheduled back to back, without extra time in between. Please arrive on time for your lesson. All scheduling matters are managed by Studio Director, Louise Kelly.

We follow the District 58 and 99 School Calendars loosely; some school holidays will have scheduled lessons, and some will not. Days off from the regular schedule due to school holidays will be listed on your monthly invoices. Students will not be charged for those.

There will be no scheduled lessons for the following breaks:

-  Winter Break: Dec. 25, 2023 -Jan.5 2024

- Spring Break: March 25-29, 2024

A lesson time is reserved for the student each week, whether or not the student attends. Each student's tuition pays for this scheduled time as well as planning time and studio costs. It is not possible to make up every lesson that is missed. That being said, students can contact the studio director to make up for missed lessons. If it’s possible, we'll schedule it. However, it isn’t always possible due, to limited spaces and full teaching schedules.

For most weather events, the studio will be open and lessons will still go on,

even if schools are closed. In those cases, lessons will be conducted via zoom.

Teacher absence

Lessons missed by the teacher will be made up at a mutually convenient time, or will be credited on the next month's invoice.

Student absence - scheduled

If you know you will be out of town or unavailable for a lesson, let the Studio Director know before the invoice for the next month is issued. That way we don't charge you for the lesson, and we have advance notice of spots in our schedules that are open for make-ups. Each student is allotted 4 scheduled absences per calendar year that will not require payment. Any scheduled absences beyond that will require payment to keep their spot in the studio.

Student absence - sickness

If a student is sick, contact the teacher to conduct the lesson over zoom. If a student is not feeling well enough to have a zoom lesson, contact the studio director to schedule a make-up. Though we attempt to schedule make-ups due to illness, it isn't always possible because of tight scheduling. Payment for those missed lessons still applies.
