OPEN MIC is back: 2026-2027 Season

Hear that? The stage is calling. LMK Studios is back with Season 3 of the open mic series!

This is a family-friendly event open to performers of any age, experience level, and genre. All are welcome to perform or just attend and see what it’s about. The open mics are hosted in the lower level of St. Luke Church.

We have all the equipment you’ll need to take the stage and showcase your talents to our growing community of dedicated, supportive, local musicians and performers. Not a musician? Come support your talented friends, family members, and neighbors! 

We welcome covers and originals, and will announce some monthly themes to inspire you if you’re unsure what to perform (don’t worry: the themes are completely optional). Here are this year's themes:

• Spooky - Oct 16

• Musicals - Nov 20

• Holiday - Dec 18

• Love / Breakup - Feb 19

• Soundtrack - Mar 19

• Songs of peaceful resistance - Apr 16

• Singalongs - May 21

Additional details:

• $10 entry fee for all performers and audience members over 10 years old (Cash, PayPal, and Venmo accepted at the door). All fees help to cover the cost of the performance space, equipment rental and maintenance.

• Keep your songs family-friendly

• Singers should have an accompanying instrument

• Doors open at 6:45pm.

LMK Studios Presents: 2025-2026 Open Mics!

LMK Studios is hosting a series of open mic nights (see dates above) on the lower-level stage of St. Luke Church in Downers Grove. No matter your age or level of experience, we would love to hear you perform (or just attend to see what it’s about)! This is a family-friendly event open to all members of the community.

Over the past year, we’ve sung along and tapped our feet to performances from piano students, solo guitarists, and 4-piece family ensembles. We even had violinists and saxophone players take the stage! And when we say, “take the stage,” we mean the literal stage:

This is your chance to take the stage, too, and join our community of dedicated, supportive, local musicians and performers.

As an added bonus, all the performances are recorded (with permission) by professional videographer and local musician Alex Rios (owner of Vid Feelings) so you can relive the spotlight and share with family and friends after the event.

Not sure what to perform? We will be sprinkling in monthly themes to give performers some inspiration (though, you’re not required to stick to the theme – they’re a suggestion to get your ideas flowing). And we LOVE hearing your originals, too.

Help Your Child Find Their Voice This Summer at Songwriting Camp

An inspiring summer experience for kids ages 8–15

Looking for a creative, confidence-building camp experience for your child this summer? Songwriting Camp might be just what you're looking for.

At its heart, songwriting is storytelling—and every child has a story to tell. Our camp helps young writers unlock their creativity through music, whether they’re experienced musicians or just getting started. We believe songwriting is a natural skill that anyone can learn, and we’ll guide your child every step of the way.

🎶 What Makes This Camp Unique? Songwriting Camp gives kids the opportunity to write, perform, and record their own original songs in a supportive, small-group setting. Campers will work both independently and in collaboration with peers as they explore songwriting through fun writing exercises, group games, and creative challenges.

Each day is structured, engaging, and developmentally appropriate for ages 8–15. And by the end of the week, every camper will leave with a simple recording of their original song—a tangible reminder of what they’ve created and accomplished.

🎹 No Musical Experience Required Campers don’t need to play an instrument to participate! All that’s needed is curiosity and a willingness to try something new. If your child does play an instrument, we’ll show them how to incorporate it into their songwriting. All campers are encouraged to bring a laptop or iPad to help create digital beats and backtracks.

For those students who do play an instrument: Pianos will be provided. Students are welcome to bring other instruments to camp as well.

• Ages: 8–15

• Location: St. Luke Church (home of LMK Studios piano lessons)

• Schedule: 6 weekly sessions throughout the summer

• Hours: Monday–Friday, 9am–12pm

• Technology: Campers should bring an iPad or laptop for music creation

👩‍🏫 Led by Trusted EducatorsCamp will be led by professional songwriters and educators Louise Kelly and Sara Richert, both of whom are experienced music teachers at LMK Studios. They’re passionate about helping kids grow through music—building confidence, creativity, and a strong sense of self-expression.
